John Byron McRae

I do not have a story about John McRae because he was the father I never knew. I am looking for any and all information I can find about him. Somebody posted a picture of him with the crew that he was on. My son recently found it and I'm hoping that the man who posted it would know more about my father. My father was the mechanic and that's about all I know. I know he flew out of San pancrazio, Italy. I know he flew 50 missions and I have those Mission reports. I have tried to do as much research as possible but have run into dead ends and quit looking for a while. But you have given me New Hope. Am interested in the nose art on any of the planes that he was on. I guess they didn't just work with one crew. I'm sorry I'm in the hospital right now and don't have the name of the man who posted the picture or the name of the crew. But the name of the crew is on there. You can email me at or call me at 503-408-8967... I did get my car license plate as McRae has a tribute to him.
