Howard Conlee, Mission May 11, 1943

Mission #21 Time 7:00

I flew on the Catania raid with Capt. Britt on the 11th or 14th. We did lots of damage to the harbor and sank a couple of ships. The ack-ack was plenty rough. We got several holes in our ship and Britt (the pilot) got a wound in his left side but it wasn’t deep enough to be serious. This was the first raid that I have been on that we had fighter escorts. We had spitfires from Malta. However we did not encounter any pursuits.

376 ARCHIVES

At the 2017 reunion, the board approved the donation of our archives to the Briscoe Center for American History, located on the University of Texas - Austin campus.

Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
