Mission #40 – target – Targovite Oil storage 25 miles west of Ploesti in Romania. Takeoff 0715 Landing 1425 (0710) total combat hours ((216:40) Load 5000 lbs (explosive B-RDX). Remarks
1) Moderate, very accurate flak encountered in Bulgaria over a large factory or mill
2) No fighters in target area
3) No fighters
4) No casualties
5) Statistics – total bomb tonnage (142,600 lbs)(71.3 tons)
6) Lt. Clark still grounded. F/O James again co-pilot

Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
